Faith Can Move the Mountain

I have always had a hard time believing Matthew 17:20 where Jesus says:
“Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Really? Nothing is impossible for me? I can tell a mountain to move. Me? I don’t think so. It just didn’t make sense to me that I could actually have the power to move something so permanent as a mountain. Why…a mountain is enormous and attached to the earth! I don’t think there will be any mountain moving in my life.
But looking back, I began to realize that I did move a mountain. You see, for many years I lived with a mountain. Not a scenic mountain looming in the distance, but a mountain living inside of me. My mountain was made up of all the weapons of my enemy. My mountain was a place of shame, guilt, remorse, sorrow and secrecy.
When I went through Surrendering the Secret I would have to say that my faith in getting over my past abortion was pretty small. Maybe even as small as a mustard seed. Now, that dark, lonely mountain is gone. In the place of that mountain is God’s mercy, forgiveness, hope, love and a powerful testimony. Just think of it…me…moving mountains after all.

Beautiful message Deb! How precious is our God who empowers us to not only recognize the mountains within (shame, doubt, fear, guilt, secrecy, ++)but also to by faith, move those mountains! Faith in our God allows us to say with you, sister, "Just think of it, me moving mountains after all!" What an encouraging word! :-)

I have just ordered the program with a great deal of hope at being able to move beyond this mountain. I had never put the scripture (Matt. 17:20) into perspective as far as this situation is concerned, thanks for providing that insight Deb.
