There is so much going on with Surrendering the Secret. God is moving in way we couldn’t have even imagined…
This year the Scripture God layed on Pat's heart was Habakuk 1:5
The Lord replied,
“Look around at the nations;
look and be amazed!
For I am doing something in your own day,
something you wouldn’t believe
even if someone told you about it.
This Scripture has resonated with our Team and we are AMAZED to watch God’s plan for Surrendering the Secret unfold right before our very eyes.
We are continuing to host certified leader trainings around the Nation. Check out our events page and join us in a location near you.
Surrendering the Secret has also had quite a presence at the October Baby Pre-Screening events. We are proud to be connected to such an amazing movie and to be listed as one of their ministry resources!
Something NEW God has given STS is called “A Night of Hope”. This event is an evening with two of the country’s leading women in the ministry for LIFE. Join Pat Layton and Shari Rigby (actress from October Baby) to hear how God is working in each of their lives…their stories of redemptive healing are both riveting and inspiring…
Our First Night of Hope will be in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 11 @ Fellowship Bible Church of Benton. For more information visit our event page HERE.
Another NEW thing God has done is added to our National Trainer Team! We are thrilled that God has added 5 more women to this team which gives us a total of 14 National Trainers…look for their bio’s and pictures to be added to our website SOON.
We hope to see you at one of our events this year. Keep checking the event page for updates. And don’t hesitate to contact our National Office or our National Training Team with any questions, comments, or prayer requests.
Blessings!
Jennifer

Dear Pat,
My name is Dan Murphy and I am a retired registered nurse. Although I have worked the entire spectrum of psychiatric nursing, the two areas I specialized in was working with the chronically mentally ill homeless and sexually abused and suicidal children, ages 4 through 12 years old. The day I began nursing school they told us we would suffer from burnout and in 2001, it happened to me. I was a charge nurse on the Children’s Unit at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Psychiatric Hospital and I felt like I was sinking in an ocean of little 4 year old girls that were all crying out for someone to help them and I got to the point that my spirit was completely crushed. I simply was spent, I had nothing more of me to give. With the exception of a few widows praying for me, there had never been any support whatsoever from the body of Christ during the entire time I worked with children. With a heavy heart, I walked away from nursing.
During the first few months of 2002, I hated my life and although I never became suicidal I cried out for God to end my useless life. In May, He showed up.
For the next few months, Jesus came to me where I was at in all of my stuff, cleaned me up, and began to teach me about His view of women, a topic he has been teaching me about for the past 10 years. Every book He put into my hot little hands I devoured, what He spoke, I wrote down in notebooks. Although I had asked him repeatedly why was He was teaching me all this, He would never answer me.
A few years ago, I tried to summarize all the vastness of what He had given me into a paragraph or two and I came up with this:
20 September 2008
It is virtually impossible for us men to wrap our minds around the concept of having an intimate relationship with a loving male God in the same way women do. Fortunately for me, God has graciously worked out an individualized care plan. He has, in the past three months, quietly swooped down and taken me by the hand and given me a crash course on how to navigate the crushed hearts of women: the women of the past as well as those women who are part of my life.
But why me?
God has given a much greater portion of his nature and deposited it in the hearts of women, unbeknownst to us men. For a husband to reach full spiritual maturity and stand firm before his Lord on the day of his judgment, he must first submit fully to God and focus on the journey he has to take through the heart of his wife. There must be no hesitation. Hesitation to obedience is disobedience.
This world we live in is such a distraction from the truth.
I am a member of The Vineyard Family and our church began a 40 day fast on the first of January and during all services since that time, we have had no worship band playing for the customary 30 minutes and no one hour sermon. When we come in, we sit down, and remain silent. We only speak or sing or pray or read scripture as the Holy Spirit directs. Period. It’s like we’re living out life as the early church did in Acts and it is absolutely wonderful (it’s got be a God thing because “wonderful” is not a word in a man’s vocabulary)!
Well, on Sanctity of Life Sunday, Jennifer got up and began speaking about her work at the local Crisis Pregnancy Center and about her work as a group leader for Surrendering the Secret, which she has been leading for the past year. Then, she looked around the room at everyone and said, “I had an abortion…” As soon as she said the word, “abortion”, I felt the Holy Spirit grab me by the collar and tug me slightly in her direction and said, “Submit to her!”, three simple words by which He meant:
1. Although I’m 51 and old enough to be her father I am to go to her where she is at helping women who’ve had abortions and avail myself totally to whatever she wants me to do to serve these women;
2. All the love I would ever need for two or three lifetimes was given to me in overflowing abundance for each and every post-abortive women I would ever meet for the remainder of my life;
3. Jesus is in the process of restoring all of the women in the entire body of Christ by taking you back to where you were before you were defiled by the men in your lives;
4. That of all the women in the church, those of you who have had an abortion are in the worst spiritual and psychological state and YOU ARE HIS NUMBER ONE PRIORITY! GOD IS COMING FOR HIS GIRLS – EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU!;
5. Jesus is changing the dynamic of how men are to treat all females, regardless of age, and that means when we pray for you, WE ARE TO BE ON OUR KNEES AS AN ACT OF SUBMISSION TO HIM! The word to men and any attitude problems they may have is “Change….or else! From now on, men WILL show respect to the females in their lives, they WILL protect women, they WILL become the fathers they are supposed to be and they are to love their wives like never before…or else! This is NOT negotiable!
6. Jesus has prepared my heart, my mind, and my spirit to come alongside all of my suffering sisters with deep compassion and accept them as He has, establish an appropriate loving and healing relationship with each of them, and to accept them into our church family where we can take care of them for the rest of their lives. Unwavering acceptance is the theme here.
7. As their healing continues and as the Holy Spirit directs, my sisters will then go back out into the community to help all of the other lonely women who’ve had abortions. I’ve got a sense the turnaround time on this might be short so it’s possible the number of post-abortive women getting healing might continue to grow exponentially.
It never fails to amaze me how the Holy Spirit can cram so much meaning into just a few words.
Just 10 years ago I felt worthless, powerless, hopeless, totally devoid of meaning or purpose. But Jesus came to me in my darkness and isolation, breathed newness of life into me and he has finally answered my question. Our Lord, our Savior, our Friend, our Encourager, Warrior King, and the all-around Greatest Guy in the Universe, Jesus Christ, has brought me to work with you and others into the work that He began so many years ago with you. God is so much better at being me than I am.
Pat, thanks for your devotion, your patience, your innumerable prayers, your tears, your faithfulness, and your obedience. Obedience is the meaning of discipleship.
I reckon I’m not the only man Jesus is bringing in to help rescue God’s girls from that dark wasteland where they are so unnecessarily wasting away so I hope you’ve got some idea how to use us all because now you’ve got boots on the ground.
Love you lots,
Dan Murphy
